The CMAS Underwater Photo & Video World Cup that took place last week in Madeira, Portugal highlighted the amazing photography taken off the island’s shores.
During the Madeira Underwater 2025 closing ceremony, representatives of official entities and the organization emphasized the role of Madeira Underwater in promoting the region as a destination of excellence for diving and in raising awareness about the protection of marine ecosystems.
According to Pedro Sousa, president of the Madeira Swimming Association, the event’s promoter:
“Madeira Underwater has established itself as an international benchmark, highlighting not only diving but also the talent and creativity of all those who dedicate themselves to showcasing the beauty of our seas.”
In turn, the Jury President and representative of CMAS highlighted:
“The technical and artistic quality of the works presented reflects the professionalism and passion of the participants, as well as the extraordinary potential of Madeira as a world-class diving destination.”
The festive atmosphere at the Savoy Palace Hotel in Funchal marked the closing of a week dedicated to underwater exploration and creativity, with participants coming from various countries.
The event reaffirmed Madeira as one of the most vibrant and inspiring destinations in the Atlantic for sea lovers, ending with the announcement of the grand winners in the various competition categories.
