The British Sub-Aqua Club has announced the dates and details of its 2023 Operation Oyster.
The event will take place from March 30th through April 5th, 2023, and aims at making a difference in solving the problem of a declining oyster population in UK waters.
This year the operation will explore Scotland’s west coast, including Jura and Loch Craignish. Based aboard the MV Clasina, the expedition is open to BSAC Dive Leader and above ratings.
During the operation, data generated by divers will be fed to multiple partner projects aimed at restoring Uk oyster populations. Participants will undertake various activities, including:
- Conduct dive surveys of native oyster beds.
- Take part in planting seagrass beds.
- Exploring and searching for the remains of native oyster beds.
The cost to take part is £1,100/~US$1,363 /~€1,251 per person for the week.
