Fog-X featured at DEMA Show 2025 a low-tech, set-it-and-forget-it solution to one of diving’s most persistent annoyances: a fogged-up mask.

The product is a thin plastic insert that sticks to the inside of a mask lens much like a screen protector on a phone, turning almost any mask into a permanent anti-fog setup.

Each insert carries a hydrophilic inner layer that encourages water to spread into a uniform film instead of beading as fog. Because the lens surface stays evenly wet, there’s nowhere for condensation to build, so the mask stays clear without spit, baby shampoo or defog drops before every dive. That also means a backup mask can live in a pocket already prepped and ready to go.

Fog-X is positioning the inserts as especially useful for instructors and dive pros who are constantly donning and doffing masks and managing student gear. Instead of passing a defog bottle down the line at the edge of the pool or on a crowded dive deck, each student’s mask can be fitted once and then largely forgotten, staying fog-free throughout a busy teaching day.

The company offers roughly half a dozen pre-cut shapes sized for many of the most common snorkeling and scuba masks, including low-volume freediving models, as well as a version for swim goggles. For unusual mask shapes, DIY sheets are available so divers can trace and cut their own pattern with a pair of scissors.

Fog-X inserts carry a suggested retail price of US$15/~€13, for the pre-cut versions.
