Genesis Scuba is breaking from its long history of piston-style regulators with the launch of the new Argo, a balanced diaphragm first stage that brings environmental sealing to the brand’s lineup for the first time.

Introduced at this year’s DEMA Show, the Argo was a headline product in the Sherwood/Genesis booth, signaling a push toward colder and more demanding diving conditions.

Unlike Genesis’ previous piston first stages, the Argo uses a diaphragm design that isolates the internal mechanism from the surrounding water. That sealed layout helps protect working parts from silt, salt and other contaminants and reduces the chances of icing in colder temperatures, advantages that have made diaphragm first stages popular with cold-water and low-visibility divers.

The Argo’s first stage is both balanced and environmentally sealed, giving divers consistent intermediate pressure as tank pressure drops and helping maintain smooth breathing throughout the dive.

Full technical specifications and pricing were not available at press time, but the company says more detailed documentation will follow as the Argo moves closer to shipping.
