New Divers' Energy Drink Introduced at DEMA

There’s a new energy drink mixture for divers that’s being marketed here at the DEMA Show. It’s called Diver’s DLyte, and each little packet that you mix with water contains no stimulants like caffeine or ginseng or sugar. It does, like a lot of energy drinks, contain lots of B vitamins (30 mg of B6 and 1,000 mcg of B12). But its secret formula (well, not so secret now) is that it has an ayurvedic mixture of 500 mg of Hawaiian noni and 500 mg of curcumin (the main ingredient in the spice turmeric).

Unlike other herbal drinks like DiversiTea, which helps detoxify a diver after a dive, Divers’s DLyte founder John Dooley, a biologist by trade, told DeeperBlue.com today that his drink helps bathe the body’s muscle tissue in the proper electrolyte balance before, during and after the dive, and provides energy to the drinker by influencing the energy cycle inside the body’s mitochondria.

“It took me a year to come up with the formula, to develop it and perfect it,” he said, adding that he has used the formula on more than 100 dives.

Right now, Dooley is marketing his drink solely as a point-of-purchase profit center for dive retail shops. For more information, check out the nascent company’s Web site (http://www.diversdlyte.com). — John Liang
