The Sea of Change Foundation has announced its support for the Reef Renewal USA online coral nursery diver training program.
The foundation will offer Reef Renewal USA a grant, which will be matched to create an online coral nursery diver training program. The training will be open to divers from across the globe and aims to train a large number of divers in the basics of coral nursery operations to boost the number of available coral nursery volunteers. These facilities are becoming a crucial global tool in protecting our reefs.
Commenting on the support, Sea of Change Foundation Executive Director Samantha Whitcraft stated:
“At the Sea of Change Foundation, we believe in empowering communities to participate in local conservation so this worthy project is a perfect fit.”
While the founder of Reef Renewal International and coral conservation expert Ken Nedimyer said:
“I’ve long envisioned a future where any diver who wanted to could help us save threatened coral species like elkhorn and staghorn corals. And now it seems the future is here.”
