Shearwater Research this week announced updates to two of the company’s dive computers, the PERDIX 2 and PETREL 3.
The PERDIX 2 now sports an armored casing with precision titanium surround bezel and titanium piezo touch buttons that protect performance-enhanced electronics.
The aluminosilicate glass lens guards a 2.2-inch/5.59cm bright screen and offers improved clarity, impact and damage resistance. A vibrating, customizable alert system draws attention at certain moments of the dive.
Air integration with up to four Shearwater transmitters allows room to grow, according to the company.
The PERDIX 2 is available in Ti and Ti Black color finishes. Before taxes, the Ti retails for CAD$1,370/~US1,090/€1,013, and the Ti Black retails for CAD$1420/~US$1,129/~€1,050.
The upgraded PETREL 3 sports an all-new 2.6-inch/6.6cm AMOLED display protected by a toughened aluminosilicate glass lens, titanium bezel and piezo touch buttons.
Air integration is now standard to all PETREL 3 models with up to four Shearwater transmitters to customize a solution from open circuit to rebreather and bailout gas pressure monitoring.
The upgraded PETREL 3 also gets the strong vibration alert system, and a user-changeable AA battery offers long dive times and ease of replacement.
The PETREL 3 is available in standalone or rebreather monitoring models, including DiveCAN, 4-pin AK, and Fischer port connections.
The PETREL 3 retails for $CAD1,600/~US$1,273/~€1,184, according to Shearwater.
Both the PERDIX 2 as well as the PETREL 3 ship with Shearwater’s user interface ready for a full range of single and multigas diving. Bluetooth connectivity and the free Shearwater Cloud software allow for dive downloads and future updates.
The interface is available in 10 languages – English, French, German, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Shipping will begin on June 15, 2022 (Americas & Asia Pacific) and mid-summer 2022 for Europe.
