Successful Red Sea Expedition For Team Deptherapy

Team Deptherapy had a successful expedition to the Egyptian Red Sea at the end of May 2018.

The expedition was comprised of 25 members, including 17 wounded military veterans. The team visited Roots Dive Camp in El Quseir, and during their stay achieved some great results including:

  • Five PADI Open Water Divers.
  • Three PADI Advanced Open Water divers and PADI Deep Divers.
  • Seven Coral Conservation Divers.
  • Four Deptherapy Education Professionals.

In addition, seven members of the expedition participated in a coral reef surveying and conservation course, which was led by the Head of Science at Coral Cay Conservation Tom Dallison.

The trip also marked the launch of Deptherapy’s Protecting Our Oceans project, which aims to increase awareness about the precarious state of the oceans. The program also aims to enable each Deptherapy member to give back to the marine environment, which helps in their rehabilitation.

Finally, the whole team took part in a “dive against debris” and beach clean-up, and successfully removed over 1km/0.6mile of fishing line.
