To celebrate World Ocean Day, Anthony’s Key Resort invited a group of guests and citizen scientists for a maintenance dive at the resort’s coral nursery.
The dive was conducted under the guidance of Jennifer Keck, the Education Coordinator at the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences.
The coral nursery is a partnership between Anthony’s Key Resort and the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences. The program was set up in 2016 and aims to respond to the declining coral populations around Roatan with coral a transplantation effort.
Since its inception, the program has successfully planted various fragments to the reefs around Roatan.
