DEMA Highlights The Dangers Faced By Florida’s Goliath Groupers

-

DEMA has issued an alert highlighting the dangers faced by Florida’s Goliath Grouper population due to fishing rules changes.

In a call-to-action, DEMA aims to mobilize you to help prevent the fishing lobby from overturning the animal’s harvest moratorium.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) meeting will take place on October 6th and 7th, 2021. During the meeting, discussions about the issues surrounding the fish will take place, including opening up the animal for a “limited harvest.”

DEMA has highlighted several steps that you can take to help protect and preserve this majestic animal from the perils of a “limited harvest.” Things you can do include attending the meeting in person and submitting your comments to the Florida FWC directly.

You can find out more and learn how to help the Goliath Grouper here.
