The Diving Equipment and Marketing Association has announced that Margo Peyton and Ernie Brooks will receive the 2018 DEMA Reaching Out Award, as well as becoming the newest inductees into the DEMA Hall of Fame.
The Reaching Out Award honors members of the diving community who have elevated the industry at all levels; it was first awarded in 1989.
Margo Peyton founded Family Dive Adventures/Kids Sea Camp and Ocean Wishes and earned her award for services to the family dive training and travel market. Through her work, she is responsible for over 7,000 young diver certifications, including special needs adult and child divers. Other accolades held by Peyton include:
- PADI Ambassadiver.
- Member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame.
- Member of the PADI Youth Advisory Committee.
- Family Travel Association’s (FTA) board of advisor member.
Ernie Brooks is honored for his outstanding contribution to underwater photography and a long and distinguished body of work. Over the course of his career, he has won multiple awards including:
- The 2003 Hans Hass Diving Adventure Award.
- The 2005 International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame.
- Legend of the Sea in 2012 and again in 2017.
He is also a member of the Professional Photographers of America and is a member of the illustrious Camera Craftsmen of America which only has 40 members.
Peyton and Brooks will receive their awards at the DEMA Black and white party on November 16, 2018.
