Jim Elliott, the president and founder of Diveheart, has been honored with the Daily Herald’s Suburban Business Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.
The Diveheart nomination was in the Regional Spirit Category, which aims to recognize a commitment to the well-being and growth of the area through excellent corporate citizenship.
The 23rd annual awards were presented in a virtual ceremony on September 22, 2022, and are a partnership between the Daily Herald and NAWBO Chicago. Filmmaker David Marsh has recently documented the company’s goals of helping people with disabilities through scuba diving. The film “Adapting To Dive” was a life-changing event for Marsh, who lost his son to an overdose seven days before his trip to Cozumel to shoot the film.
Commenting on the award, Elliot said:
“When life hands you lemons, at Diveheart we suggest you just add water…It’s rewarding to be selected as one of this year’s Daily Herald Suburban Business EEA Award winners. We believe people of all abilities deserve the chance to ‘imagine the possibilities’ in their lives. This award helps us get that story out to the world, and we are forever appreciative of that opportunity. Thank you!”
