Girls That Scuba Raise Funds For Classroom of Hope

For the second year in a row, Girls That Scuba and Manta Dive Gili Trawangan teamed up for an event.

However, this year’s event — that took place May 2nd-4th — had a special twist and was not only aimed at uniting women who dive but also to raise money for the non-profit Classroom of Hope.

Classroom of Hope works with the Pelita Foundation, which aims to help children in Lombok, Indonesia go back to school after the earthquakes that struck the region last year. The event successfully raised over US$2,000 (~1795 Euros) for the charity.

This year saw over 100 participants from Girls That Scuba, and the three-day event featured several activities including a cleanup that removed over 274kg/604lbs of debris from the beach, and 18kg/39lbs from the sea.

During the evening, there were TED-style talks, and on Saturday 52 Girls That Scuba took part in a fun dive. The event ended with a big dinner and raffle.
