Join Jean-Michel Cousteau At Family Camp on Catalina This Summer

-

For 7 years, Jean-Michel Cousteau has teamed up with his friends at Catalina Island Camps to hold the Jean-Michel Cousteau Family Camp.

Every year for 5 days, Family Camp provides the opportunity to teach families about protecting the ocean while nurturing the relationships between generations. At camp they have parents and children, grandparents, brothers and sisters with their families, neighbors and friends who enjoy the wonder of the ocean, the company of loved ones and the pleasure of a great vacation.

Jean-Michel Cousteau invites you to join him August 24 to 28 for the 2005 Family Camp. The Ocean Futures team along with Jean-Michel Cousteau will team up with the staff of Catalina Island Camps to welcome you for a family adventure at Howlands Landing. You will snorkel together, discuss the rich ecosystem of the kelp forest, learn about current events that affect the ocean and become friends. In addition, Cousteau will share his latest adventures documenting the wonders of the sea and discussing how we can help our children be good stewards of the environment.

The camp staff lead activities like archery, kayaking, snorkeling, nature hikes, gardening and composting, sailing, the climbing wall and high ropes course, campfires, bingo and talent shows. Each family has a staff member as their host to help them become acquainted with camp, its activities and its commitment to the environment.

Meals are prepared by the camp staff. Each meal offers a wonderful variety of foods for everyone with special entrees for kids. Dinners are complemented with fresh greens from the camp garden prepared by camp participants. There are also excellent vegetarian meals. Family happy hour is a highlight of the day with games, conversation, snacks and beer, wine and soft drinks.
