Cabañas on Clark’s Cay and Villa on Dunbar Rock have announced the launch of their new dive boat, the Gemini.
The new vessel can accommodate up to 36 divers, though the resort will cap the number at 30.
Features of the Gemini include:
- A rear water-level platform makes it ideal for divers to enter and exit the water.
- A flybridge that can support up to 10 guests.
- Two freshwater showers.
- A large camera table.
The vessel was christened by Denis Midence, general manager for the Cabañas on Clark’s Cay and Villa on Dunbar Rock Resorts.
During the ceremony, he stated:
“Friends, colleagues, and fellow divers: We gather here in the beautiful waters of Guanaja to welcome a new soul to our fleet. From the shores of the Caymans to her new home here at Cabañas on Clark’s Cay and Villa on Dunbar Rock, this Newton represents our commitment to excellence and the expanding future of our dive operations.”
Commenting on the boat’s performance, he added:
“A ship is only as strong as the power that drives her. Today, we recognize the ‘twins’ (engines) that will carry our guests across the sea. We name these engines Castor and Pollux. In ancient times, these brothers were the guardians of mariners, appearing as St. Elmo’s fire to guide ships through the dark. May Castor and Pollux run strong, remain reliable, and ensure that every journey out to the reef is matched by a safe and steady return to our docks.”
Finally, he dedicated the vessel to the ocean, stating:
“To the Great Powers of the Ocean: We present to you the Gemini. She has been built for the deep and seasoned by the Caribbean. We ask that you keep her keel clear of the reef, her pumps dry, and her decks filled with the excitement of discovery. To the divers who will gear up on these benches—may they find clarity below the surface and wonder in every dive. I christen thee Gemini! May you be a beacon of hospitality, a sanctuary for explorers, and a proud member of the Clark’s Cay and Dunbar Rock family. To the Gemini, to Castor, and to Pollux—fair winds and following seas!”
