Shark Angels has announced it is leading a rare liveaboard expedition from May 30 to June 6 into the heart of the Sea of Cortez off Baja California, Mexico aboard the Nautilus Gallant Lady.
The expedition is operated in partnership with Seasick Productions and is designed for divers, snorkelers and ocean advocates seeking unscripted encounters with large pelagic animals.
Departing from La Paz, the seven-night liveaboard trip will emphasize conservation education, responsible wildlife interaction and the unpredictable nature of true expedition travel.
The trip will seek out orcas, mobula rays, whales, whale sharks, sea lions and more. Each day will unfold based on real-time ocean conditions and wildlife movement, allowing the team to follow nature rather than a checklist.
Unlike traditional dive trips, this journey blends snorkeling and scuba diving, and no scuba certification is required, according to Shark Angels. Certified divers are welcome, but non-divers can participate fully via snorkeling and surface encounters.
This inclusive approach allows mixed-experience groups to share the same expedition without compromising the quality of wildlife interaction.
One of the big features of this trip will be the use of a dedicated aerial spotter plane, a tool more commonly associated with scientific research than recreational travel.
By expanding the search area for pelagic activity, aerial support increases the likelihood of meaningful, in-water encounters while maintaining ethical wildlife interaction standards.
