The annual Ice Hole Festival is back this coming February.
The event will be held at Lake Okoboji in Iowa, and will take place from February 9th through 12th, 2023. The event brings together a host of ice diving enthusiasts from states as far afield as Florida, Texas, Illinois and Arkansas, not to mention international participation from Canada and Mexico.
Commenting about the event, Richard Thomas, the owner of International Scuba and one of the festival founders stated:
“The mission of the Ice Hole Dive Fest is to create a gathering of scuba divers that want to expand their skill set. Also, to foster working relationships with Scuba Dive centers from all reaches of North America. The unique nature of the environment seems to really attract the southern scuba divers that want to test their skill in a harsh environment. And the Friday Night Ice Hole Cutting and bonfire has become legendary. It includes pizza, drinks that warm your heart and toes, and a bonfire on ice.”
The event participation fee is US$200/~€189/~£167 and includes entry, 2 days ice diving, entry to the social, not to mention a hot lunch, drinks on ice and an event shirt.
