The Blue Wild Ocean Adventure Expo in Fort Lauderdale, Florida continues to grow with every passing year.
Expo founder and spearfisherwoman extraordinaire Sheri Daye says based on past growth, she expects attendance this weekend to top 5,000 guests.
“We’re really excited. The show expands every year, we get more growth and we added a fishing section because we think a lot of spearfishermen like to fish, and vice-versa. . . . So that’s always exciting to have new people.”
With the expo now taking up all of Hall A on the main floor of the Broward County Convention Center, that has allowed boat sellers to bring in their boats to show off.
Not only that, the kids corner has also ben expanded, according to Daye:
“We listened to the feedback of what people like and we’re turning it into a more family event where we have crab races and face painting and fish printing and its all free for the kids, so its the kind of even where you can bring the whole family.”
Also back is the ever-popular raffle featuring a whole host of spearfishing and freediving products, along with seminars like “The Sex Lives of Great Whites” and workshops on making Lionfish ceviche.
The Expo is US$20 per day and open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. For more info, check out the Expo’s website at thebluewild.com.
