DEMA Board Elects President and Appoints Interim Board Member

The Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) has announced that Mr. Robert Hollis, CEO of Oceanic and Vice President of the DEMA Board of Directors has been elected to the office of DEMA Board President. Mr. Hollis was elected from among those on the current Board of Directors utilizing procedures outlined in the Association bylaws. The election was conducted following the passing of DEMA President John Cronin in mid July.

Mr. Hollis has served with the Board of Directors in the past, most recently being appointed to the Board as an interim member in 2002 and re-elected to A1 representation for 2003. Mr. Hollis has served as Vice President and as Chair of the DEMA Promotions Committee since the beginning of 2003.

According to Executive Director Tom Ingram, "Bob brings a wealth of experience both with the DEMA Board and with the Diving Industry. As we countdown to the October DEMA Show in Miami, Bob’s leadership, experience, and knowledge will help us to produce the best possible show."

The DEMA Office is also reporting that the Board of Directors has voted to appoint Al Hornsby, PADI’s Vice President of Legal Affairs as an Interim Board member for the remainder of 2003, filling the vacant Category A-2 board seat left by the passing of Mr. Cronin.

Mr. Hornsby is well versed in legal affairs surrounding the Diving Industry, and has vast experience in retailing, diving instruction, and the media. Mr. Hornsby also has experience with the DEMA Board, having served as President in 1997.
