Director of "The Cove" gets nominated

LOUIE PSIHOYOS, the critically accalimed director of the smash hit film The Cove, has been recognized again for his groundbreaking documentary. Yesterday, the Directors Guild of America announced the Guild’s nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary for 2009.

This is Mr. Psihoyos’ first DGA Award nomination. The Cove is also on the short list of documentaries slated to be nominated for an Academy Award – otherwise known as an Oscar.

Louie and the Oceanic Preservation Society joined forces with freediving champion Mandy-Rae Cruickshank and her husband Kirk Krack to document (and put an end to) the dolphin slaughter that occurs in Taiji, Japan every year.
