Diveheart and Kids Scuba have teamed up for a program teaching scuba diving to local hearing-impaired and differently-abled children in Malaysia.
The program was held in September 2019, on the private resort island of Perhentian Island, Terengganu.
This year’s event featured 10 children from a local school for the differently-abled, who enjoyed an introduction to scuba diving, quizzes, and other fun beach activities. The children received initial training in the resort swimming pool, before completing a shore dive on the house reef. Participants and organizers noticed a clear boost in the children’s confidence after completing the program.
According to Kids Scuba Dive Center Founder Syed Abdul Rahman Syed Hassan and Diveheart Malaysia Ambassador:
“I am thrilled to say that events like this not only builds bridges between us, but also reinforces our hope in humanity. If all of us of different abilities can respect each other like this today, then we can really ‘imagine the possibilities’ for a better tomorrow.”
