Search and rescue teams are looking for a woman who went missing while on a diving trip near Tauranga.
The woman was out with a group of divers near Motiti Island, about 30km east of Mt Maunganui, when she failed to surface about 7.40am today.
Senior Sergeant Rob Glencross of Tauranga police said it was not clear whether she was on an organised diving trip or out with a group of friends.
He said conditions on the water appeared to be good. Police hoped to speak to the people she went diving with later this morning to establish what happened.
