“Since 1985, International Marinelife Alliance (IMA) has actively worked to combat destructive fishing practices in the Philippines and Indo-Pacific region. Cyanide and other poisons are used to stun and capture fish for the international live reef fish aquarium and seafood markets. Thanks to the generous contribution of CORAL member Steve Goodman, CORAL was able to award a $24,750 microgrant to the International Marinelife Alliance earlier this year. IMA used the grant to purchase the R/V Alliance, a much-needed marine research and conservation vessel.
