Gardner Young, Gone But Not Forgotten

Gardner Young, the dive pioneer who started the first dive training resort on the Bahamas, has passed away.

Young began his journey with the underwater world in the 1950s and taught many Bahamians to dive and become passionate about the sea surrounding their homeland.

One of his most celebrated local students is none other Stuart Cove, who would go on to become a diving legend in his own right. Over the course of a long and prestigious career, Young shared his passion with celebrities and movie stars alike, including Sean Connery, Gary Cooper, Phillipe Cousteau, Kenny Rogers, the Beatles, and the Kennedys.

Although already a legend, he was inducted into the International Scuba Hall of Fame for his outstanding services to the Industry.
