Dylan Coundley-Hughes, a wildlife photographer from West Wales, UK, had a very rare sighting of the world’s second-largest animal, the fin whale, in the waters of Cornwall.

Coundley-Hughes made the sighting in Falmouth Bay last week. He was tipped off by a local fisherman who reported that a massive whale had been sighted off the coast.

He took a wildlife sighting cruise to the area where he managed to see several feeding frenzies involving dolphins, tuna and birds. It is at that moment that Coundley-Hughes spotted the blow of the whale.

Using a drone, he successfully captured footage of the whale, which was accompanied by a pod of common dolphins.

Commenting on the event, Coundley-Hughes stated:

“It was massive…I do a lot of marine wildlife filming, and this is definitely one of the top moments. A lot of people don’t realise just how much marine life we have right here off our coasts.”
