On Tuesday, Global Mfg. Corporation held a technical seminar on the Internal Cleaning of Scuba Air Tanks. While the room was set to seat 40, more than 65 eager participants crowded the seminar led by Dr. Richard (Dick) Boyd.
In addition to a thorough discussion of tank tumbling media and methods, and drying procedures, Boyd debunked the myth held by some that tumbling a cylinder necessitates a hydrostatic re-evaluation. “Even if you tumbled a tank for several weeks, you’d only remove about 15/10000 of an inch”, noted Boyd.
