Warner Bros/IMAX Films Choose Explorer Ventures Fleet for Upcoming Production

-

In June the Caribbean Explorer I will host award-winning Director/Cinematographer Howard Hall.  Hall, along with IMAX and Warner Brothers Pictures, will be onboard to begin shooting their second original IMAX 3D film, Denizens of the Deep (working title).  The film, produced by Toni Myers, executive produced by Graeme Ferguson and Brad Ball, and co-produced by Michelle Hall, will offer audiences astonishing, up-close encounters with some of the world’s most exotic undersea creatures.  Denizens of the Deep is scheduled for worldwide release to IMAX theatres in 2006.

Carrying 18 passengers and 7 crew, the Caribbean Explorer I, formerly know as the Turks & Caicos Explorer, features 4 upper-deck staterooms, two with queen-size bed and two with twin upper berths. Each of the upper-deck staterooms feature a private bathroom and shower.  A comfortable seating and entertainment area with VCR/DVD, CD stereo and wet bar is also located on the upper deck, just forward of the lounge-equipped sundeck and barbeque area.

The main deck features an indoor dining salon, as well as the expansive dive deck with individual gear bins, multi-level camera table, recharging station, rinse bins, freshwater shower and stairs to the dive platform itself.  Belowdecks are located 5 double cabins with private sink and vanity and two shared bathrooms and showers; the vessel is air-conditioned throughout.

The water surrounding the Bahamas Islands is well known for its huge expanse of intricate reef systems. Walls abound, as well; many of the tops begin from 50 to 100 feet below the surface, and plunge to many thousands of feet. The huge area covered ensures that nearly everything found in the southern Atlantic finds its way to the Bahamas – sharks of all kinds, humpback whales, several species of dolphins, whale sharks and eagle rays and arrays of smaller creatures too numerous to list.

The Caribbean Explorer I boards passengers in George Town, Bahamas after 3 pm each Saturday. Diving commences on Sunday morning, with 5 dives daily being offered (including night dives) at areas in the southern Exumas, Rum Cay, Conception Island and San Salvador. Island access will be available during the week for those wanting to go ashore.  Pricing for 2005 ranges from $1,195 per person double occupancy (shared bathroom) to $1,595 per person per person double occupancy (private bathroom).
