Avery Fisher has joined the Professional Association of Diving Instructors as a PADI Ambassadiver.
The step is huge for the 16-year-old diver, who will now link her growing conservation platform with one of the world’s largest dive-training organizations, expanding her outreach beyond her regional base in North Carolina.
Fisher first grabbed national attention at the age of 13 when she set an underwater Guinness World Record at San Francisco’s Aquarium of the Bay. However, instead of letting that achievement stand as a single event, she partnered with the aquarium to launch a conservation-focused fundraising campaign. Her efforts raised more than half a million dollars (434,000 euros) to support marine education and environmental programs.
Fisher’s advocacy highlights the pressures facing marine ecosystems, including warming waters, shifting species distributions, pollution, habitat loss and growing human impacts. As a Youth Ambassador for Aquarium of the Bay, she volunteers regularly and speaks with visitors about ecosystem awareness and stewardship. Her approach centers on educating, inspiring and empowering young people to take concrete actions for ocean protection.
The Ambassadiver designation cements Fisher’s role within the global dive community. Ambassadivers act as visible representatives of diving culture, exploration and environmental responsibility. Through PADI’s international network, her platform now reaches a worldwide audience, expanding her influence from regional programs to global outreach.
