SlipIns made a big splash in 2019 with their line of surf and swimwear. At first, these Lycra suits were made to make getting into surf wetsuits easier. However, it soon became apparent that the suits worked great for scuba divers as well.
Company founders Robin Chesnie and Rick Rickman quickly moved into producing designs explicitly aimed at the scuba diving market, and so far over 50 models have been created. According to Chesnie:
“Our Dive Skins are ideal for warm water diving and snorkeling because they protect the skin from all sorts of stinging critters, jellyfish, abrasions, and fire coral as well as full body sun protection. The comfort level is amazing, and the reviews have shown the product isn’t just effective, but it also makes a major fashion statement.”
According to SlipIns, the suits offer 60+ UPF protection and according to Rickman:
“This basically protects you from almost all the harmful rays of the sun. Customers have reported back to us that they can stay in the water for up to 5 hours without any hint of redness or sunburn.”
