On November 13, 2004, a significant milestone in diving history will be celebrated as Los Angeles County Underwater Instructors gather for their 50 Year Reunion.
Started in 1954 under the leadership of Al Tillman and Bev Morgan, the L.A. Co. Department of Parks and Recreation became the first agency in this country to train scuba instructors and to provide recreational scuba instruction to the public. The legacy goes on to this day as LA County Instructors continues to offer quality scuba education to Southern California divers.
The 50th Reunion Committee wants to invite all our LA County Underwater Instructors, their families, and friends of the program to mark Saturday, November 13th, 2004 on their calendars. This evening promises to be something special as we look back on the 50 years of diving safety and educational programs that has become our legacy in the diving industry. Being held at The Los Angeles Athletic Club in downtown Los Angeles, The Club is host to our annual banquets in addition to housing the Outstanding Instructor, Outstanding Candidate and Conrad Limbaugh award plaques. The evening will include special presentations, dinner and a full evening of reminiscing with friends and family. As with the 40th Anniversary, this evening will be one to remember. So pass the word, we hope to assemble the largest gathering of Los Angeles County Instructors in the 50 years of diving safety and education.
