Garmin brought its Descent S1 Buoy to lead the line at the DEMA Show in 2025.
The new Descent S1 Buoy, when combined with the Garmin Dive App, offers a potent tool for boat crews to keep a close eye on up to eight divers at once.
Using the App, the crew can clearly see each diver’s live location, depth and tank pressure. In addition, if a diver is separated from the group, they can use the Descent S1 Buoy as a homing beacon and navigate back to it from a distance of up to 100m/330ft.
The Descent S1 Buoy is compatible with the following Garmin Dive Computers:
- Descent X50 i
- Descent Mk3 i
In addition to being able to monitor tank pressure remotely with the Descent S1 Buoy and an appropriate dive computer, it must be paired with the Descent T2 transmitter.
Finally, one of the best features of the system is that it allows divers to communicate with each other and the surface via a massive number of preset messages. This allows the boat crew to issue and receive instructions from the divers, as well as for the dive team to address underwater issues among themselves.
The new Descent S1 Buoy is available from US$2,499/~€2,135/~£1,900.
