From february 24 to february 26, the Ecuatorian Federation of Underwater activities realized a Freediving competition during the III Ecuatorian Olimpic Festival. The modalities were Static Apnea, Dynamic with and without fins. Some athletes were dissappointed by the punctuation system. It was quite different from AIDA system. It based on the position with respect to the others. So it´s this way:
- First place: 30 points
- Second place: 25 points
- Third place: 20 points
Karl Pernett, the only Colombian male competitor, made 8´18" and 8´02" in training but just 6´39" in competition. "I didn´t see the reason to make such an effort, it´s worthless, it doesn´t matter how much time I get over the second place, I´ll get only 30 points" -he said.
