We have just come across an unusual story from the recent UK Dive 2005 Show back in October 2005.
It seems a couple got engaged at the Reef Jewelry stand. Reef produce aquatically themed jewelry and always seem to be a big hit, however in this case it seems they made for more than just a nice gift:
“We always enjoy the dive shows, and get great pleasure when clients come back to see us, not only wearing our jewellery, but to add to their collection”, stated Peter Barbarovich, Reef Jewelry’s Designer. “But what made Dive 2005 so special for us this year, was that two of our customers got engaged by our stand.
"We’d received an email at the start of October from Geoff Lancaster”. ‘My partner is a huge fan and has several pieces. We’re both keen divers, so I already know the wedding ring she would love and indeed she has seen the Bubble Ring several times on your stand at the Dive Shows. But what would be the perfect complement to it as an engagement ring? Do you have something that fits the bill. We will be visiting the NEC and it would be a lovely surprise for her to be able to look at suggestions for this’.
“I’ve been wanting to make an engagement ring for sometime now”, Peter stated, “and this was the perfect excuse. So we were looking forward to seeing what Maureen Scow thought of the ring. However what amazed us was that when Maureen walked into the NEC on the Saturday morning, she had no idea that Geoff was going to propose to her at the dive show. We’ve never had anyone get engaged next to our stand before, and it was all highly emotional. Though what made my day was that the ring fitted and Maureen loved it, as I take enormous pride in designing and producing my hand made jewellery. Six weeks on and I am still smiling about it! You know most ladies come to the show to buy a BCD or a computer, not to go home with a fiancée”.
A truly amazing story. We can see ladies getting their hopes up when their partners ask them to the next dive show!
