HEAD Watersports has announced that its Mares Power Plana LT fin has earned Scubalab’s “2026 Testers Choice Award for Best New Tech Style Fins.”
Built with Mares’ XR-Tech design in blade geometry and engineered from a lightweight, flexible TPV material, the Power Plana LT delivers the control of a technical fin without the bulk and fatigue typically associated with this category, according to HEAD Watersports.
Slightly positive in buoyancy and efficient in the water, the fin offers smooth propulsion and precise maneuverability across all kicking styles, the company said.
Test divers scored the fin very good in overall functionality and maneuverability, highlighting its effortless feel and all-around comfort.
One tester noted:
“Super light in the water—almost feels like I’m not wearing fins.”
The evaluation panel overwhelmingly selected the Power Plana LT as their top fin, praising its efficient blade performance, comfort and ease of use.
The fin’s “Channel Thrust Technology” delivers more power and efficiency with less effort per kick, according to Mares. Additionally, its foot pocket is specifically designed to accommodate dry suit boots, ensuring a secure, comfortable fit for cold-water diving.
