It’s no surprise if you’ve not heard of Maumere as a diving destination.
The area on the north coast of Flores, Indonesia was utterly devastated by an earthquake and tsunami back in 1992. The resulting catastrophe destroyed nearly 90% of the town buildings and caused enormous damage to other structures in the region.
However, after many years of work and rebuilding, Maumere is now taking back its place as a diving mecca. The town serves as a gateway for diving into the pristine surrounding area of Pantar, Alor and Flores Island.
Solitude Adventurer is running multiple itineraries from Maumere. These include a 12-day/11-night journey from Maumere to Ambon and a somewhat shorter 9-day/8-night trip from Maumere to Alor.
