Al Roker, longtime weather forecaster for NBC’s morning “Today Show,” was recently named a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Emissary.

NOAA Administrator Rick Spinrad surprised Roker with the honor during a recent episode of the “Today Show,” including giving him a letter from US President Joe Biden:

“Your reporting has educated us all on nature’s power and fragility and has underscored our shared responsibility to preserve, protect and restore our one and only home — Planet Earth.”
