The Golden Rule of scuba is “Never Hold Your Breath” and is widely known by all divers. The other much less well-known rule is that “anybody can call off a dive for whatever reason.”
The rule is vital since if a diver is not 100% sure for any reason, carrying on with the dive puts everyone at risk. As such fellow divers should be supportive, and there is no shame, embarrassment, or recriminations for calling a dive.
