Odyssey Expeditions, not to be confused with the treasure hunters, offers what sounds like the most epic summer camp one can imagine.
Campers learn to sail, freedive, scuba dive, learn marine sciences, experience team-building exercises, and of course, come home with a lifetime of memories. Odyssey is a PADI 5-Star Dive Resort and offers certifications in freediving and scuba from Open Water to Rescue including over 12 specialty courses like Night Diver, Research Diver, Underwater Naturalist, and Underwater Photo/Video.
Odyssey is open to “campers” age 14 to 20, and the three-week camp is all-inclusive at a price of US$6,000 (~4,847 Euros). They do offer need-based scholarships, by the way. No prior experience is necessary.
Odyssey’s Jason Buchheim explained that they have three 4800 Leopard Sailing Catamarans with each carrying up to 12 campers. Sessions this year begin June 15, July 6, and July 28 and run out of the British Virgin Islands or Saint Lucia. The BVI trip travels in and along the BVI, and the St. Lucia trips sail to Grenada. Odyssey has been conducting marine biology voyages for over 23 years.
