Sharkbanz2 Shark Repellent Bracelet Now Available

-

The leading manufacturer of shark deterrents, Sharkbanz, has announced the release of its new Sharkbanz2 shark deterrent bracelet.

The small bracelet is generally worn around the ankle and works by overwhelming the shark’s natural electroreception sense. This creates a harmless yet unpleasant sensation for the shark deterring it from coming close to investigate.

The new product joins the Sharkbanz Fishing Zeppelin, a small shark deterrent device used to discourage sharks from trying to steal what is on anglers’ hooks — or getting too close to catch bags when anglers are standing in waist-deep water.

According to Sharkbanz co-founder and scuba instructor David Garrison:

“Sharkbanz are a pragmatic solution to a problem I wanted to solve. In terms of shark encounters . . . a diver’s vision is generally limited. When sharks are present, that creates some anxiety and a need to closely monitor their position. Sharkbanz helps divers relax, knowing that their risk is reduced. That added relaxation makes the animals more comfortable around you, and your air last longer. Divers still need to be aware of their surroundings at all times, of course, but with a Sharkbanz II they won’t be looking over their shoulder as much.”

While Garrison’s son Nathan and fellow co-founder of Sharkbanz said:

“While it’s vital to be aware of sharks at all times while in the water we actually love diving with them. In fact, the Sharkbanz 2 is so effective we don’t use it on actual shark dives. We use it only when we want to deter investigative sharks. In those situations, it really provides a welcome comfort factor. Our mission is to develop simple, effective and affordable strategies to reduce the risk of a shark bite – providing peace of mind and protection to every diver, surfer, swimmer and water sports enthusiast around the world while also promoting marine conservation and education.”

The Sharkbanz2 retails for US$94/~£75 /~€89, and you can find out more information here.
