Sheraton Soma Bay Resort In Egypt To Host ‘Miss Mermaid’ Pageant

Have a hankering to be a mermaid model?

The Sheraton Soma Bay Resort on the Red Sea coast of Egypt will be hosting a mermaid pageant next month sponsored by the Euromodel modeling agency.

The pageant will take place from September 26 through October 5. Women aged 17-30 will be provided a mermaid costume sponsored by www.magictail.de, which they will have to spruce up themselves.

The contestants — from Germany and other countries — will get to participate in Olympic sports, photo shootings in mermaid outfits, snorkeling at the Soma Bay house reef, fashion catwalks, as well as diving and underwater modelling. They will be judged by a professional panel on their swimming and diving abilities, underwater mermaid posing, outfit creativity, as well as their charisma and brainpower in an interview situation. The winners will be crowned either as Miss Mermaid Germany or Miss Mermaid International.

This is the pageant’s second year. In the summer of 2014, William Balser, owner of Euromodel, did a mermaid shoot and consequently came up with the idea to launch a “Miss Mermaid Germany” model contest. Pretty soon, two partners joined up with him: Katharina Hegemann who founded the Mermaid Club of Germany, and Kirsten Soller from the mermaid costume shop Magictail.de. That first year, 24 mermaid finalists competed for the Miss Mermaid Germany title.

Aspiring mermaids can apply for the pageant at http://www.missmermaid.de/.
