Surf-fur hit its Kickstarter target in less than two days. The campaign for the Nomad, a packable dive parka, passed its $28,000 goal in 47.5 hours and keeps climbing.
The launch went live on 2 June 2026. By the time the funding bar turned green, the family-owned brand had proved a point it has chased for a decade: divers want warmth they can pack.
A Goal Cleared Fast
As of this writing, the campaign sits past 115% of its goal, with 185 backers pledging an average of $175 each. The first 150 early-bird units, priced at $130, sold out within hours of launch.
Surf-fur capped the first production run at 550 units. The campaign runs until 2 July 2026, leaving plenty of road for the total to grow.
“We did it. The Nomad is fully funded in just two days,” the company told backers in a campaign update. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from past customers and new friends alike.”
Ten Years On One Fabric
The Nomad solves a problem divers know well. Pack the warmth layer and lose space for gear. Leave it behind and shiver on the boat after the dive. Most divers leave it behind. Most regret it.
Surf-fur spent ten years developing the fabric to fix that. The brand wanted a single material that was windproof, waterproof, and breathable, yet packed down to a fraction of the size of its original Waterparka.
The result fits inside a 5-litre dry bag. It drops into a dive bag, a carry-on, or the corner of a truck without crowding out essential kit.
“Someone flies to an incredible destination, surfaces from a great dive, and then spends the rest of the day shivering on the boat,” said Cynthia Issel, designer and CEO of Surf-fur. “The memories of the trip get clouded by the ones where they were just trying to get warm.”
What The Nomad Packs In
The parka carries the features Surf-fur built its name on:
- Changing pockets for full privacy when you swap out of a wetsuit
- Windproof, waterproof, breathable shell with fully taped seams
- Warm fleece lining that traps body heat the moment you put it on
- Zippered front for faster transitions when you are wet and cold
- Interior pocket for phone and valuables
- Wind-resistant hood that stays in place
The first run comes in one limited-edition colourway: navy blue with a red interior. Surf-fur says the colour most likely will not return once the campaign ends.

Surf-fur pitches the Nomad as the premium choice in a market crowded with cheaper rivals. Issel argues the maths favours quality. “Our gear lasts ten years or more if you take care of it,” she said. “The cheap ones fall apart after a season or two.”
