The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a warning for consumers to stop using an OUSPT-branded full-face snorkel mask.
The warning affects around 84,000 masks that were sold online between March 2019 and February 2026, predominantly via Amazon. The warning was issued after multiple incidents in which the mask triggered labored breathing, raising carbon dioxide levels that can lead to loss of consciousness.
The warning was issued after the agency noted that the masks are currently involved in a lawsuit where there is an allegation that they may have contributed to a drowning fatality.
Due to the manufacturer’s lack of cooperation, the regulators had no choice but to issue a public warning advising people not to use the masks!
How to identify if you have an affected mask
According to reports, the masks feature the word “OUSPT” on the snorkel tube and were made in China.
What to do if you have a recalled mask
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, you should take the following steps:
- Stop using the mask immediately
- Dispose of the mask in a safe manner
- Do not resell or give the mask away
