The annual Vertical Blue invitation freediving championships have been canceled according to a statement on the competition Facebook page.
Last year was the 10th anniversary of the competition dubbed the “Wimbledon of Freediving” by the NY Times.
The 2018 competition saw 46 contenders from 23 different nations take to the waters of Dean’s Blue Hole in the Bahamas to set an unprecedented number of records – with a total of 10 World Records and 42 National Records set in a single competition.
