The Women Diver’s Hall of Fame is an organization designed with a two-pronged mission: First, to honor extraordinary female divers & their achievements every year, and second to pay-it-forward to the next generation of divers by providing scholarships for advanced training and marine conservation endeavors.
The members inducted into the 2017 class represent a wide variety of fields including: Science, Medicine, Sports, Underwater Archaeology, Media, Business, Conservation and more.
“We are hopeful to raise as much money as possible at our “Tropical Dreams & Paradise Sunsets” fundraiser this evening,” said Dr. Sally Bauer.
Last year, WDHOF raised over US$70,000/60,233 Euros which they gave out in 43 different training grants. And while the organization’s main focus is on supporting girls and women, past scholarship recipients have also included deserving twin brothers and a male instructor who specialized on teaching disabled divers. Typical advanced training grants run in the $1,000/860 Euros range for recreational, professional or technical courses.
The WDHOF fundraiser at DEMA Show 2017 is co-sponsored by DAN and is open to the public. Tickets for the event cost $30/26 Euros, which includes a dinner buffet, live music, raffles and an auction.
