The Divers Alert Network has announced the launch of its latest Continuing Education for Dive Professionals – Course 3: Barotrauma Legal Drama.
The new course is free and is available through the DAN E-Learning site. The latest offering builds on DAN’s Continuing Education for Dive Professionals program, which launched in 2024. The third installment aims to reinforce the program’s goal: empower instructors and dive operators to make safer decisions that protect divers and careers alike.
The new Barotrauma Legal Drama follows a fictional ear barotrauma case from open-water training through a courtroom deposition, illustrating how an instructor’s choices and recordkeeping can be examined in litigation.
The course mixes a cinematic storyline with expert analysis from DAN’s safety and legal teams to highlight practical risk management lessons for dive professionals.
To encourage completion, DAN is offering an additional premium discount to members who finish the course.
Eligible members may receive roughly 5% off their annual individual or group professional liability policy; this additional discount stacks on top of the standard 5% DAN membership discount.
