The last day of the CMAS Apnea Indoor World Championship in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy, saw two new Dynamic Apnea with Fins (DYN) World Records smashed!
French freediver Arthur Guerin Boeri set a new Men’s record with a 300-meter/984-foot swim beating the previous CMAS record of 294m, and Alessia Zucchini from Italy bested her previous 233-meter/764-foot World Record with a 250-meter/820-foot swim. Both of these records are absolute World Records as they are longer than both CMAS and AIDA records (although as they are different agencies they do not recognize each others records).
Russian Aleksander Kostyschen came in second in the Men’s competition with a 272.75-meter/894-foot swim, and Italian Luciano Morelli walked off with the Bronze medal for his 250-meter swim.
Two other Italians rounded out the top five, with Aldo Stradiotti swimming 239.4 meters/785.4 feet, and Alessandro Zacheo, participating at his first World Championship event, with 235.78 meters/733.5 feet. Frenchman Olivier Elu came in sixth place with a 226.4-meter/742.8-foot swim.
Italy pretty much dominated the women’s category, with five teammates following Alessia Zecchini: Cristina Rodda, with 219.7 meters/720.8 feet; first-time World Championships participant Tiziana De Giulio with 219.03 meters/719.49 feet; last-minute addition to the National Team Livia Bregonzio swam 209.38 meters/686.9 feet; Tatiana Di Poi came in fifth place with a 200-meter/656-foot swim; and Martina Mongiardino swam 193.62 meters/635 feet.
Spanish national champion Mara Carolina Torrealba Pascuet rounded out the women’s category with a 176.65-meter/579.6-foot swim.
