Dive Miami Alliance and ECOSAT announce the USS Oriskany Task Force

The Dive Miami Alliance and ECOSAT Foundation announce the completion of its formation of the USS Oriskany Task Force, a public private partnership that is professionally addressing all relevant issues required to safely and successfully deploy the 888 ft aircraft carrier within a protected memorial site one mile off of Miami Beach next year.

"Our two year project has the firm support of the Dive Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) Board of Directors as well as the Historic Naval Ships Association (HNSA)," states Stephen O’Neal, Task Force Chairman.

The Task Force is made up of five committees of which our Safety and Training Committee, chaired by Rick Barocas, President of the Dive Miami Alliance is a veritable list of who’s who in the Industry. PADI, NAUI, IANTD, SSI and DAN have all pledged their support.

"We are especially grateful to Bob Coleman at PADI who is assisting us with the launch of our Diver Support program through PADI’s world wide resources," O’Neal said.

Interested parties can register their support for the USS Oriskany project on line at www.divemiami.com.

DEMA attendees are invited to attend a seminar on Diving in Miami and the USS Oriskany. The seminar will be held in room C-220 Thursday 2.30 pm, 9 October.

DEMA guests are also invited to visit the Dive Miami Alliance at Booth 667.
