'FREEDIVER: Triton Down' VR Game

If you’re into virtual reality, the new video game “FREEDIVER: Triton Down” will be released this week.

Conceived and developed by Archiact, the Teen-rated game plunges you into a capsizing research ship, the Triton, where survival means outmaneuvering the water’s lethal surge. The player takes on the role of world-class diver Ren Tanaka, navigating her through a sinking ship, overcoming underwater chaos, and unlocking her path to the surface, all while protecting her most precious resource: the breath in her lungs.

A close call on her last dive has kept her landlocked for months, but when Ren’s mentor Dr. Lindstrom, an eccentric and brilliant scientist, claims to have made a stunning discovery in an underwater cavern, Ren decides to return to the deep.

According to Archiact, the game’s highlights include:

    • “Underwater Adventure: Survive a harrowing nautical disaster as a world-class freediver.
    • “Fight for Breath: Oxygen is your only resource, the rising seawater your greatest adversary.
    • “Gestural Locomotion: Navigate virtual spaces with intuitive dive and swim movement.
    • “Interactive Puzzles: Stay calm, think fast, and use your environment to escape.
    • “Binaural Soundscapes: Handcrafted music and SFX from an award-winning audio team.
    • “Realism in Unreal: Dive into vivid underwater environments, brought to life in [Unreal Engine 4].”

FREEDIVER: Triton Down” will be released May 30th on Steam and Oculus Rift for US$8.99 (~8.05 Euros). Check out the trailer below or go to the Archiact web site for more info.
