More than 1,300 Instructors took part in the online Scuba Schools International Ecology Instructor programs, which took place over the four days spanning this year’s DEMA Show.
In partnership with Ocean First Education, the participants received materials and ratings in eight distinct specialties over the course of four days, including:
- Marine Ecology.
- Shark Ecology.
- Sea Turtle Ecology.
- Manta and Ray Ecology.
- Fish Identification.
- Coral Identification.
- Marine Invertebrates.
- Marine Mammals.
According to SSI Director Jeff Saenger:
“The large participation in our Ecology Instructor promotion shows the level of commitment SSI Professionals have in teaching divers about marine life and ocean conservation. Educating divers of all ages supports SSI’s Blue Ocean initiatives which strives towards preserving our aquatic resources for generations to enjoy.”
While Catherine Christopher, the COO of Ocean First Education, stated:
“While the offer of anything free will draw a crowd, the number of dive professionals that turned out to learn more about the ocean and become certified in the current and future SSI Ecology courses was inspiring. The dive pros will take what they’ve learned back to their students and continue to spread the message of education, awareness, and the importance of conservation. Being a part of that momentum is special, knowing we’re making a difference, educating current and future divers, helps keep me motivated.”
