Ilaria Bonin: Italy's Newest Mermaid

Turin, Italy — last weekend the national freediving championships took place in Turin. A good gathering of athletes turned out for the event, but one freediver in particular stood out, Ilaria Bonin. At the comp Ilaria successfully set two new national records with 119 meters in DNF

00014.MTS

and 186 meters DYN.

Giving smooth and relaxed performances (and no-packing yet) Ilaria is not only chasing the female world record holder Natalia Molchanova but she is also giving the italian men a run for their money. DeeperBlue looks forward to seeing more from Italy’s newest mermiad.

Gabriele Satto an AA Instructor and Iaia’s friend said “I could really tell she could easily reach the wall again if she wanted to, but she’s so modest she stopped 13 meters before it and came out smiling soooo wide!!!!!
